Types of Events
Mini – reunion Events – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
What are these?
We are defining these as any social gathering meet-up of 20 to 150 alumni.
Types of events could include a meet-up for food and drink at a bar venue (we don't care if you don't drink alcohol), a blue jays game, a picnic, a golf tournament - whatever an organizer would like to define that encourages socialization and the sharing of memories, stories, laughter and camaraderie
How will you support these?
The first step is for our alumni to provide the first 3 characters of their postal code, their last year attended or grad year at CCI, and how we can get in touch with you - usually by email, facebook messenger, or cell phone for text.
The first 3 characters of the postal code helps us define regions for grouping alumni. The last year attended helps us group alumni into interested "chapters" such as 1965-1970 years so that attendees to an event have some degree of commonality / familiarity. While a 1988 alumni as an example , could attend an event primarily comprised of 1965-1970 years, they may not have as much in common.
Can anyone plan a mini-reunion event?
Absolutely Yes! A local organizer is required to determine the venue, size, and criteria of years to us.
We can provide a list of potential names and contacts for your region, and whatever range of years, you wish to invite. We can handle some of the advance cash required.
We will handle all the communications on your behalf.
How can I see Mini-reunion events and who is attending?
See the page Current Events
We will list the details of the regional event - time, location, and show who is invited, and who is absolutely committed to attend, so that you have some familiarity with the audience
What is a Chapter?
Sounds like a Motorcycle Club and Sons of Anarchy!
We define a Chapter as a region and a group of alumni years in the range of 20 to 150.
Examples of Chapters would be Burlington 74-78, Oshawa 83-87, Downtown Toronto 62-67, Kingston 62-72, Barrie 74-81
Can I crash a Mini-reunion event?
Yes and No.
Yes if there is significant room with the local organizer, and it is not a ticketed or controlled registration event. Yes if you want to make it a bit of a surprise for some, but we do request you ask and communicate with us or the local organizer first. You don't have to "fit" within the range of years or region so it is whatever you are comfortable with.
No if it becomes very unfair to a venue owner if all of a sudden 100 more uninvited people show up and they do not have the capacity to accommodate.
Will you publish Chapters?
We will develop a Chapters page when we have blocks of significant size and scale - Stay tuned for Chapters updates as we collect information on our alumni whereabouts!
Is there an attendance cost?
That is up to the local organizer of the Chapter / Region to define the rules.
We could foresee to guarantee some form or return to a bar owner for having a private party area, an upfront cover charge that may or may not be refunded.
For a golf tournament or Blue Jay game where advance tickets are required, then the answer would be yes.
Can Teachers attend?
We will encourage all current or former teachers to attend!
